折衷主義 / Eclecticism

Originally, eclecticism means combining the best elements of some different cultures into a new creation.
In many cultural fields, from fashion to architecture, people can appreciate and make the most of eclecticism. Conversely, it has been considered wrong and against its rule to seek eclecticism when it comes to the kimono’s world and tradition. As my long-standing theme, I, who question the tradition, would like to express it and incorporate eclecticism. Of course, that doesn’t mean I do not deny the authentic kimono and how to wear it. I don’t think it’s necessary to consider the kimono too extraordinary. The word kimono originally means “what to wear,” i.e., “clothes.” Regarding western clothes, the fashion and the lifestyle surrounding them is changing day by day. Why shouldn’t it be so about kimono? I want to propose a new way to show such a kimono.
I was in charge of direction and styling. I am grateful to the team members and clothing brands for their cooperation.
