Captain Funk

CD design for Production for Production – Tokyo, Japan
When I get involved in designing artwork of a music album, I always pay attention to the concept of the album and the characteristics of the artist. This time, the client asked me to take the time to listen to the music first to get a sense of the album concepts musically before working on ideas visually. These albums were the first releases of his own label, which he launched. Also, they were the first releases under the name of Captain Funk for a long time. I added gold foil stamping on the red and black backgrounds to make them look impressive to his fans. Red and Black were not only his favorite colors but also worked effectively for representing each concept of the albums (“Heavy Metal,” “Heavy Mellow”).

In cases of CD designs, I always pay attention to the concept and characteristics of the artist.
